Overview

The KR VisionFrame 35 Super Knuckle 8 cm (3 in) puts a camera, light, sensor, or monitor out on a freestanding 35 mm post frame, with fast freehand positioning for inspection scenes too large for a VisionGrid tabletop.

It mounts to a vertical 35 mm VisionFrame post with a Super Convi clamp - the jaw grips the post and the hex receiver locks the arm's 5/8" (16 mm) stud with a spring-safety catch - then gives you a quick-adjust Super Knuckle arm to aim the device, ending in a standard ¼"-20 screw.

The Super Knuckle is a double ball-and-socket arm with a single central knob: loosen it and both joints swing freely to any angle, tighten it and the whole arm locks at once. The friction ball joints glide smoothly, so you find a position fast by hand. At 8 cm (3 in) it is the shortest Knuckle in the family - the strongest and steadiest of the Super Knuckle lengths, the first choice when the device can stay close to the post.

VisionFrame 35 is a larger prototyping and integration frame - the route for testing bigger camera-to-product geometry, taller camera positions, and multi-camera layouts before the final machine is built. The camera, light, sensor, adapter plate, and cable management are chosen separately, so you build the exact setup your scene needs.

When the inspection scene is too big for a tabletop - taller camera positions, more camera-to-product distance, a larger sample, or a conveyor-style mockup - VisionFrame 35 gives you a freestanding 35 mm post frame to build on. Clamps slide up and down the post, so you can move a camera or light to a new height without cutting a custom frame.

This is a prototyping and integration frame, not a production station. An integrator uses it to stand up larger geometry fast, prove the inspection, and show a customer. Once the layout is locked, the production path becomes a VisionCell inspection cell, a SightLink E3040 retrofit onto a real machine frame, or a custom engineered fixture.

This kit is the middle link of the chain - a Super Convi clamp grips your 35 mm VisionFrame post and the arm carries your device's ¼"-20 thread, clamp and arm included:

¼"-20 is the common camera/accessory thread. "Male" means this kit provides the screw; your device or adapter plate needs the matching female thread. If the image must stay level and can't twist on a single screw, add a locating pin or anti-rotation plate.

Super Knuckle or Omni?

Choose Super Knuckle when you want fast, freehand positioning - its friction ball joints glide smoothly to any angle and lock with a single central knob, so you set a position by hand in seconds. Choose Omni when you want a repeatable, locked angle - its anti-slip rosettes index to a set tooth position and return to it, so a camera holds the angle you set. They simply hold differently: the Super Knuckle for quick, free movement, the Omni for an exact, repeatable angle.

This Super Knuckle reaches 8 cm (3 in) and carries up to 5 kg / 11 lb close to the clamp - the strongest and steadiest Super Knuckle length - derating toward the tip. It is friction-held with a single knob - fast and freehand, but with no indexed angle return, so re-aim by eye after a bump; it is a positioning tool, not a production mount.

  • Reach: 8 cm (3 in) nominal.
  • Close-in working load: up to 5 kg / 11 lb - the highest of any Super Knuckle length.
  • Best for: cameras, lights, sensors, monitors, and accessory plates positioned quickly by hand, close to the post.

Start with the shortest arm that reaches the target. The shorter Knuckle is cheaper, carries more load, and holds steadier - every extra inch of reach costs you payload capacity and stability. The 5 kg figure is a close-in reference for the arm; usable load still depends on payload position, mounting angle, vibration, and cable pull. Secure the cable to the post before judging stability - cable drag can shift a camera even within the load range.

  • Confirm you have (or are buying) a 35 mm VisionFrame post for the clamp to grip - this mount is not for 16 mm VisionGrid rail, 22 mm VisionGrid tube, or 3030 / 4040 extrusion.
  • Your device needs a ¼"-20 female thread, or an adapter plate that gives it one.
  • Check that payload weight, center of gravity, and cable pull suit the 8 cm (3 in) reach.

What does the clamp attach to?

A vertical 35 mm VisionFrame post. The included Super Convi clamp grips the post in its jaw (which fits round bar from 12-51 mm) and holds the arm's 5/8" (16 mm) hex stud in its receiver, with a spring-lock safety so the arm can't drop out if the screw loosens. The ratcheted handle tightens it even in tight spots. It is not for 16 mm VisionGrid rail, 22 mm VisionGrid tube, or direct 3030 / 4040 extrusion mounting.

What else do I need for my camera?

The kit ends at a ¼"-20 male screw. Your camera (or an adapter plate) needs a matching ¼"-20 female thread. If the image must stay level, add a locating pin or anti-rotation plate.

Does the 5 kg load apply at full reach?

Treat it as a close-in reference, not a guarantee at maximum offset, under vibration, or with unmanaged cable pull. For a steady image, keep the payload close to the post.

Should I pick 8, 15, or 23 cm?

Start at 8 cm (3 in) - it's the strongest and steadiest. Use 15 cm (6 in) for general hand-adjusted reach, or 23 cm (9 in) only when reach matters more than stiffness and you can accept a lighter payload.

Super Knuckle or Omni?

Pick the Super Knuckle for fast freehand setup; pick the Omni when a camera needs to return to an exact, repeatable angle. For most quick trials the Knuckle is faster to live with.

Is VisionFrame 35 a production mount?
