Product Description
The KR VisionFrame 35 Omni 20 cm puts a camera, light, sensor, or monitor out on a freestanding 35 mm post frame - for inspection scenes too large for a VisionGrid tabletop.
It mounts to a vertical 35 mm VisionFrame post with a Super Convi clamp - the jaw grips the post and the hex receiver locks the arm's 5/8" (16 mm) stud with a spring-safety catch - then gives you a controlled Omni arm to aim the device, ending in a standard ¼"-20 screw.
The Omni gives full 360° rotation and a 90° pivot for precise aiming, with an interchangeable ball-head socket at each end and anti-slip rosettes that lock the joint so a set angle holds without creeping. A ratcheted handle makes locking quick. At 20 cm / 7.9 in it is the shortest Omni in the family - the stiffest, the highest-capacity, and the most stable of the Omni lengths, which makes it the first choice when a camera needs to hold its position.
VisionFrame 35 is a larger prototyping and integration frame - the route for testing bigger camera-to-product geometry, taller camera positions, and multi-camera layouts before the final machine is built. The camera, light, sensor, adapter plate, and cable management are chosen separately, so you build the exact setup your scene needs.
Why VisionFrame 35
When the inspection scene is too big for a tabletop - taller camera positions, more camera-to-product distance, a larger sample, or a conveyor-style mockup - VisionFrame 35 gives you a freestanding 35 mm post frame to build on. Clamps slide up and down the post, so you can move a camera or light to a new height without cutting a custom frame.
This is a prototyping and integration frame, not a production station. An integrator uses it to stand up larger geometry fast, prove the inspection, and show a customer. Once the layout is locked, the production path becomes a VisionCell inspection cell, a SightLink E3040 retrofit onto a real machine frame, or a custom engineered fixture.
How It Mounts
This kit is the middle link of the chain - a Super Convi clamp grips your 35 mm VisionFrame post and the arm carries your device's ¼"-20 thread, clamp and arm included:
¼"-20 is the common camera/accessory thread. "Male" means this kit provides the screw; your device or adapter plate needs the matching female thread. If the image must stay level and can't twist on a single screw, add a locating pin or anti-rotation plate.
Omni or Super Knuckle?
Choose Omni when you want a repeatable, locked angle - its anti-slip rosettes index to a set tooth position and return to it, so a camera holds the angle you set. Choose Super Knuckle when you want fast, freehand positioning - its friction ball joints glide smoothly to any angle and lock with a single knob. They simply hold differently: the Omni for an exact, repeatable angle, the Super Knuckle for quick, free movement.
Reach and Load
This Omni reaches 20 cm / 7.9 in and carries up to 8 kg / 17.6 lb close to the clamp - the highest capacity of the Omni lengths - derating as the payload moves toward the tip or off-center. It locks to a repeatable indexed angle for static positioning and is not vibration-rated, so re-check the hold after heavy use.
- Reach: 20 cm / 7.9 in nominal.
- Close-in working load: up to 8 kg / 17.6 lb - the highest of any Omni length.
- Best for: machine-vision cameras, lights, sensors, monitors, and accessory plates that should hold position.
Start with the shortest arm that reaches the target. The shorter Omni is cheaper, carries more load, and holds the image steadier - every extra centimeter of reach costs you money, payload capacity, and stability. The 8 kg figure is a close-in reference for the arm; usable load still depends on payload position, mounting angle, vibration, and cable pull. Secure the cable to the post before judging stability - cable drag can shift a camera even within the load range.
Best Applications
Use the Omni 20 cm when a camera has to hold its angle on a larger post frame:
- Holding a camera at a set height and angle on a VisionFrame 35 prototype scene.
- Larger camera-to-product geometry that a VisionGrid tabletop can't reach.
- Multi-camera or camera-plus-light layouts around a bigger sample.
- Integrator demos that show vision working on a freestanding frame.
- Cable-managed setups within the arm's load range.
What's in the Kit
The kit ships as three parts - the Super Convi clamp, the 20 cm / 7.9 in Omni arm, and the ¼"-20 male device screw - and nothing else; the 35 mm post and the device are separate.
- Super Convi clamp (ratcheted handle) for a vertical 35 mm post - jaw fits 12-51 mm bar, hex receiver with spring-lock safety.
- Omni 20 cm / 7.9 in adjustable arm.
- ¼"-20 male device screw.
Not included unless bundled: the VisionFrame 35 post or frame; the camera, lens, light, sensor, monitor, or controller; a camera-specific adapter plate; and cable strain-relief hardware.
Before You Order
Before ordering, confirm a 35 mm VisionFrame post, a ¼"-20 female device thread, payload and cable pull suited to a 20 cm / 7.9 in reach, and a reviewed path if the setup is vibration-prone or production-bound.
- Confirm you have (or are buying) a 35 mm VisionFrame post for the clamp to grip - this mount is not for 16 mm VisionGrid rail, 22 mm VisionGrid tube, or 3030 / 4040 extrusion.
- Your device needs a ¼"-20 female thread, or an adapter plate that gives it one.
- Check that payload weight, center of gravity, and cable pull suit the 20 cm reach.
- Weight or secure the post base, and re-check the clamp's grip on the post after loading - a tall freestanding frame can sway, and a clamp can creep down the post under load or vibration.
- For a released production line - not a prototype - use VisionCell, a SightLink E3040 retrofit, or a custom fixture.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the clamp attach to?
A vertical 35 mm VisionFrame post. The included Super Convi clamp grips the post in its jaw (which fits round bar from 12-51 mm) and holds the arm's 5/8" (16 mm) hex stud in its receiver, with a spring-lock safety so the arm can't drop out if the screw loosens. The ratcheted handle tightens it even in tight spots. It is not for 16 mm VisionGrid rail, 22 mm VisionGrid tube, or direct 3030 / 4040 extrusion mounting.
What else do I need for my camera?
The kit ends at a ¼"-20 male screw. Your camera (or an adapter plate) needs a matching ¼"-20 female thread. If the image must stay level, add a locating pin or anti-rotation plate.
Does the 8 kg load apply at full reach?
Treat it as a close-in reference, not a guarantee at maximum offset, under vibration, or with unmanaged cable pull. For camera alignment, pick the shortest arm that reaches.
Should I pick 20, 30, or 40 cm?
Start at 20 cm - it's the cheapest, strongest, and steadiest. Step up to 30 cm for a balanced reach, or 40 cm only when workspace coverage matters more than stiffness and you can accept a lighter payload.
Is VisionFrame 35 a production mount?
No - it's a larger prototyping and integration frame, used to test bigger geometry and prove the inspection. For a production line, move to VisionCell, a SightLink E3040 retrofit onto a real machine frame, or a custom engineered fixture.
When should I choose another path?
For a compact tabletop platform, use VisionGrid with VisionReach. For a retrofit onto an existing 3030 / 4040 machine frame, use SightLink E3040. If you need KUPO to provide the inspection cell itself, use VisionCell.
